Merry Christmas

Oh the joys of Christmas! I can remember being a little girl and the mounting anticipation as we waited impatiently for daybreak to open presents. Secretly we had already shook each present and peeked into whatever ones we could get away with! shhh...don't tell my mom! The older I have gotten the more I understand the true meaning of Christmas- being with and cherishing the ones we love. Oh what I would give to have *the one I love* with me this Christmas! I guess I'll share him with everyone else, but just this once! :) My only true Christmas wish this year, is for the safe return of our man!! Think is would it be ok to wish for next August to be here?!

I got to chat with Matt on Facebook a couple of days ago. He wanted me to tell you all Merry Christmas and he loves and misses you all! Also, thanks so much for all the gifts and packages!

 

 May the joy of this season last today and all throughout the year!

Looking out for Bravo Company

Hey there!
I hope the Christmas shopping is coming along well for all!! There's only 4 more days left until Christmas!! Wow, the time is just flying on by!! Also, I sent out the video montage that we did for Matt. It turned out great!! Thanks to you all for that! If you haven't received yours yet, you should shortly! I will also look into the option of posting it on here as well, given we have enough space for it on the blog!

I'm glad someone is looking out for our boys in Bravo Company!

hehe My sister Scarlett found this picture and we thought it was not only funny, but ironic because Matt is in Bravo Company! No matter how tough our guys are, I'm glad to know that they are being looked out for!!

The good life

Matt called this morning to report that he officially likes Tillman better than Munoz! 

Get this: He says he even has downtime! *gasp* Ladies and gents, that is not a typo! Our tough, rugged guy gets some much needed downtime complete with hot meals, HOT showers, and 12 hours of sleep at night!! Plus, he has an amazing mattress where the springs aren't sticking into his back while he tries to get a good night's sleep! Ahh, can we say Heaven?! {I'm trying to picture Afghanistan as heaven, but it's just not working!}It's the little things, I guess! :)

Just wanted to give you all an update that our man is doing Grrrreat!

New Photos

Well, hello!!
Welcome back to blogland! I know I said that I wasn't going to post but about once a week, but there's been some action and I didn't want to hold out on the details!!

Well, I guess by these photos we can conclude that he really IS in Afghanland. I was holding out with the thought that he was *secretly* in Hawaii, chillin on the beach with a Maragarita in one hand and an umbrella used to block the sun rays in the other. I guess he was right, there's no sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets. Only sweaty guys, and mountains! What a vacay!! Well, either way, at least we get to see some more of our guy! I really don't know what's going on in these pics, so I prefer to take a loose translation...lets give it a go shall we?

Lets see... in this one, Matt has loaded the bazooka (for lack of technical terms) and the other guy is taking the safety off. Notice the warrior stance. Also notice Matt's protective eyewear...Always remember, safety first! Fire Away!

Well, this one is a little tougher to comprehend. You see, Matt is actually sitting down. No word on whether he is scouting out the enemy from a somewhat lower vantage point (very sneeky and I like it), or if he is simply resting his tired legs from the crawls up the mountains! Either way, take a load off baby!

Yes, I see what's going on here and I'm on to your games, Mister. Matt, we are NOT adopting children from there. I'm pretty sure I stated very clearly, DO NOT bring home any stray children or animals. Sheesh!

All joking aside, thanks, Matt, for sharing! It looks like you are having a wonderful time on your hiking and camping excursion! Be safe!

Matt on the Move Update

Matt made it to Tillman! According to him, it's soo much better there than it is at Munoz! I hope he enjoys his couple weeks stay! At least he gets to be there for Christmas! He told me he got the packages from Trent and Aunt & Uncle Sissy and he wanted me to tell you all thank you so much!! *No word as to whether that little cheater opened his packages BEFORE Santa came. I'll ask next time though! haha

Matt is on the move!

Update:
Matt is on the move and will be heading to FOB Tillman! He was supposed to leave last night, but they didn't have enough room on the helicopter for everyone so he had to stay behind until today. He will be there at least through Christmas, so if you send anything out in the next couple of weeks, send it to FOB Tillman. I will let you know when it's closer to him heading back to Munoz so the mail can start to be sent there again.

I hope you are warm and cozing tonight! It's snowing here! It's unusual that we get any snow, especially this early! Hmm.. wonder if we will have a white Christmas this year?! A girl can hope!

the start of something new

Hey everyone!
I have been considering a blog as an option to keep everyone informed of Matt's goingons. I decided to take the jump and just see how it goes! I hope you all will become followers on this adventure as I discover how to maneuver in this crazy, fastpaced blogworld all while also documenting the travels of our main man-Matt!
