Warm Fuzzies

WOW!! We made it to 1,000 votes!!! This is INCREDIBLE!! Thank you all!!

Votes will now be thought of as 'Warm Fuzzies' and all are welcome and will be returned one day! No 'Mean Pricklies' allowed! :)
Please read the story below that is suitable for this very occasion:

The Warm Fuzzies Story
Warm Fuzzy

by Duen Hsi Yen, an adaptation of
Fuzzies: A Folk Tale by L.Richard Lessor.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful village, on a tiny atoll in the South Pacific, where few have ever visited. It was not on any of the maps. There were no motels, no golf courses, no TV's and no restaurants. The people living here didn't miss these things. They were ordinary people, just like you would find anywhere, and they were very happy. They had "Warm Fuzzies"! Some people are happy only when they are at a party or when they win a contest (I promise I didn't add that, but it's suitable, I believe) or when they are at a shopping mall. These Islanders were happy almost all the time. They enjoyed Monday mornings, storms or picnics in the rain.

They really liked people! They never mistrusted or were suspicious of other people. They went out of their way to do nice things for each other. The children were never scolded! If they were distressed, someone would come and hug them. Most of all they enjoyed meeting and greeting each other. When these islanders would meet, they would give each other a "Warm Fuzzy." Now what is a "Warm Fuzzy?" It is something like a puff of warm, soft fur. The "Warm Fuzzy" loved to be given away. It always made the village people feel better to give them to each other. A "Warm Fuzzy" meant "I care about you." A "Warm Fuzzy," is like an encouraging word, a hug, or smile :), OR A VOTE for a wedding contest couple! ;)

So the custom of giving "Warm Fuzzies" grew over the years. These Islanders gave them to sick people, so they would get well sooner. They gave them to young couples just starting out, to make their homes warm and cozy. They gave them to couple #86 in the Q Wedding Giveaway Contest! They gave "Warm Fuzzies" to just about everyone, at any occasion, just because it brought a lot of happiness and good cheer. Everyone looked forward to exchanging "Warm Fuzzies."

One day, an evil witchdoctor paddled to this isolated island from a neighboring island. He looked strange, with bleached hair and he talked an awful lot. On his island, if a child was throwing a temper tantrum, it would just be ignored. Everyone was suspicious and hostile to each other. He saw what was going on, that everyone was having too much fun, and not working like they should. "This is ridiculous," he said. "I have got to do something about these people. They may spend their whole lives thinking they are happy." Inside the witchdoctor's bag were "Cold Pricklies." These were mean, little, scratchy things, and they bite! If you look into the witchdoctor's bag, this is what you would see:

One VERY MEAN Prickly
This foreigner came into the village one day, and pretended to be sick. Sure enough, a kind lady came up and gave him a "Warm Fuzzy." He asked her how many "Fuzzies" she had. He then convinced her that someday, she would run out of "Fuzzies" and that no one would give them back to her. He gave the kind lady a "Cold Prickly" instead. The witchdoctor then spread the rumor that there would be a shortage of "Warm Fuzzies." After awhile, the wicked witchdoctor's plan worked! The people of this atoll would cross the street to avoid a friend. They stayed home and worried about people stealing their "Fuzzies," and began to give each other "Cold Pricklies" instead. The fuzziless months turned into fuzziless years, and soon there were quite a few people on the island who had never even heard of a "Warm Fuzzy." Soon the islanders became strangers to each other, and didn't even know their neighbors.

Then one day, a grandmother was telling her grandchildren about the good old days when everyone was happy and everybody gave away "Warm Fuzzies" and how good it felt to get one. The children got so excited that they went out and gathered up all the "Warm Fuzzies" they could find. Immediately, they began giving them away to each other. It brought much happiness back to the Island people and they realized how selfish they had been. They all lived happily ever after.

The end :)

Whew!

Man-o-live! I only thought this contest was gonna be easy; get votes, right?! Little did I know that I would learn the value of talking and sharing your cause and the impact it can have, especially in this cell phone, email, text driven world! It is now that I fully appreciate those presidential electors that go from county to county and city to city to solict win the votes of their constituents! Add to fact that it seems just when you get ahead someone passes you by! So, tense...this is gonna make me gray headed!!!
I rather like the long, lucious gray locks! ;)

We are soo thankful, beyond words and measure, for all of you gracious folks-family and friends- that have voted thus far! Really, there's no way that we could have come this far without YOU!! So, spread your arms open wide...WIDER....and now wrap them around yourself with a BIG hug! Just imagine me as you do that and it will be as if I am the one giving and you are the one receiving that hug!

You ROCK my WORLD!

Don't forget to vote today!!! Last day to vote is Sunday! Have a great week!

We need YOUR vote

Well, we managed to make it to 400 votes today!! It is 409 to be exact! I'm soo excited and thankful for all the votes we've gotten! I initially had all faith that we'd do well, but this well was beyond my imagination! Crossing fingers and asking for votes is my past time as of late. At least for another week!  :) Keep the votes on acomin! We need to rack up some votes to bump us up to 5th place again! We can DO it!

In between soliciting votes from family and friends, I put another final coat on this brass beauty. Well, ex brass beauty! Dressed her all up in pearls! I think she's shaping up rather nicely! I can't wait til she makes her big debut in the barn at our wedding!

One from the bottom, looking up...beeeutieful!

Thanks for reading!! I hope you all have a great week!

P.S. You can click on our picture to the right to cast your DAILY vote!! Thanks!

You amaze ME!

So, 5 days ago I entered into a little contest. A wedding contest. With goods worth $8,500. Yep, with that many zeros! That's not the real reason I entered though. The real reason is Matt. No, he didn't force me. As a matter of fact, it wasn't even his idea. It's because Matt is amazing. He gives me more than I ask for and more than I deserve sometimes. I took a small pay cut to move here and thus, he's been funding a good bit of the wedding thus far, and happy to do so. I try not to get too crazy with my vision of the perfect day and keep it to a reasonable, manageable budget. I'm actually saving us a lot by doing most of the details myself. Which I thoroughly enjoy. But, this was MY chance to actually provide for HIM for a change. Or the possibility of.

Little did I know, though, that this little contest would bring on MUCH more than just my provision and some prizes. It is the votes that get me all teary eyed and sappy hearted. People LOVE us. They really do. Not that we needed a vote to validate that fact, but my oh my. I remember when we hit 30 votes and how excited I was. I was amazed that I could wrangle up that many people to vote in support of us. Now that we are at 210, and 30 seems so long ago, I still get excited with each and every vote.

Thankful is what I am. Very thankful. And even if we don't win the contest, we are still winners because we are surrounded by people that love us and support us, and that is priceless.
